Polloc Freeport, Maguindanao—The Bangsamoro Government will upgrade this 40-year-old facility with modern water system facilities, drainage and sewerage system and a road network.

Engineer Avila Abobakar and Minister Architect Eduard Uy Guerra

Funds for these proposed projects will be sponsored at the Bangsamoro Transition Authority by Minister Eduard Uy Guerra of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), who is himself a Member of the BTAParliament.

Engineer Avila Abobakar, head of the MPW first engineering district office (DEO 1) in Maguindanao, said budgetary provisions for the seaport upgrading project will be recommended for inclusion in the BARMM 2022 Regional Appropriations Act.

Abobakar, district engineer of DEO Maguindanao West, said some P 22 million will be allocated for water system and P 15 million more to improve the Polloc Freeport’s drainage and sewerage systems.

He said an improved drainage system will effectively prevent the inundation of some of the port’s facilities, including the premises of the office of the BARMM Regional Ports Authority (RPA).

Abobakar said this will better prepare BARMM with improved climate for investment, with plans to develop the area into economic zone.

Polloc is an ecozone in the making and is distinctly situated in a cove seaport, like Subic Freeport.
