Former congressman Seth Frederick “Bullet” Jalosjos has filed an urgent motion to review at the Department of Justice for a kidnapping charge he is facing.

Jalosjos and his cousin Allan Jalosjos were charged for the kidnapping of Rosita Jalosjos and Milagros Ceriales. Rosita is Bullet’s aunt and Allan’s mother.

Bullet Jalosjos previously represented Zamboanga del Norte in the House of Representatives.

His lawyers filed an urgent motion to quash information and to defer the arrest warrant issued by a Dipolog City court on the same day it was issued, on July 29.

Judge Jose Rene Dondoyano Regional Trial Court Branch 6 in Dipolog City ordered the prosecution to comment on the motion within 10 days, according to an online news report.

The case originates from a March 2019 incident when Rosita and Milagros were brought to Mandaue City by a certain Isidro Colot. Allan sought Bullet’s help to locate Rosita and Milagros and were eventually brought to Dakak in Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Rosita and Milagros filed a kidnapping case against Colot in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Allan said it was a rescue mission, but the husband of Milagros, Albert Ceriales, insists it was a case of kidnapping. Rosita faced the fiscal and said there was no kidnapping, insisting that she voluntarily went to Dakak with her son Allan.

“How can I be kidnapped by my own son?” Rosita said in interviews with the local media.

The case was initially dismissed in July, four months after it was filed. The complaint was revived in September last year. In fact, the prosecutor reversed the decision last January 2, 2020 and recommended the filing of a kidnapping case against the former congressman and his cousin Allan. Warrants of arrest were issued against Bullet and Allan Jalosjos.

The camp of Jalosjos is questioning the reversal of the decision and urges the DOJ to review the case with urgency.
