DAVAO CITY—The local government of Davao is now set for the upcoming month-long Pasko Fiesta celebration that aims to ensure a joyful holiday season for every Dabawenyos.

Mayor Sara Duterte said that it has always been the objective of the city to give back to the Dabawenyos every December through the Pasko Fiesta activities.

“Pasko Fiesta is designed to let the Dabawenyos enjoy the festivity,” she said.

“We doubled the prizes this year for some events to encourage more participants,” Duterte added.

For this year’s Pasko Fiesta, the city allocated P17 million for the entire event, which will also cover the food packs for all security personnel who will help in maintaining peace and order during the entire celebration.

“This year’s celebration is almost the same as last year’s Pasko Fiesta. The difference is that we allocated bigger prizes for the events,” she said.

There will be 22 events tabled for the city’s Pasko Fiesta celebration this year, including a band parade and a parol parade.

Different activities were also scheduled for children; members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community; indigenous peoples; senior ctizens; and persons living with HIV.

On December 1, Duterte will light up a 40 ft. Christmas tree to kickstart the Pasko Fiesta.
