Pampanga mayors seek stricter MGCQ

City of San Fernando — The Pampanga Mayors’ League on Friday sought the extension of the household lockdown from May 1 to 15, citing the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in this capital town and nearby municipalities.

In a resolution, the league asked the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Diseases, headed by Gov. Dennis Pineda, for a stricter Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

Pineda said the mayors were alarmed by the sudden spike of coronavirus-related deaths as hospital utilization reached critical level.

The governor said there was a need to continue implementing stringent measures and health protocols to prevent a further surge in cases and to ease the critical level of the health care system in the province.

In the City of San Fernando, 86 new active COVID-19 cases brought to 1,047 the total number of residents who contracted the disease as of April 29.
