BALANGA CITY—The Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) is targeting the early completion of projects in Bataan to boost country’s economy.

“In line with the thrust of President Duterte and Sec. Mark Villar, we are targeting early completion of the projects for physical and financial growth, and for the economy to improve,” said DPWH Assistant Secretary Willy Mallari.

Commenting on his appointment as assistant secretary late last year, he said: “Apparently, Sec. Villar saw my dedication in work. When I was appointed as regional director of DPWH Region 4B or Mimaropa, the office was the lowest or the second lowest performing DPWH regional office in the country.”

“As strategy, I motivated my people to aim high, anyway there was nothing to lose, and we achieved to become top performing DPWH regional office,” he shared.

Mallari is also recipient of the prestigious Gawad Filipino 2020 “Hero of the Year” Awards, one of the carefully selected 100 Filipinos who made impact to humanity during the COVID-19 pandemic for this year.
