DAVAO CITY—The First Congressional District Office has distributed cash assistance to fire victims and more marginalized and displaced workers here.

A total of this year’s 952 fire victims from districts one, two, and three in the city received the cash assistance from the Office of the First Congressional District.

Referees, coaches, terminal vendors, janitorial staff of private and public schools, KTV employees, drivers, and others, from the first district, also received the same.

This is in line with the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), Livelihood and Anti-Drug Campaign Caravan, which was designed to provide cash assistance and to bring anti-drug advocacy to beneficiaries.

First Congressional District Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte, in collaboration with other government agencies, had successfully completed a three-day caravan with marginalized and displaced workers in Davao City last week.

Around 23,500 marginalized and displaced workers received cash assistance for the TUPAD, while there were 370 of the total 3,333 beneficiaries who initially received livelihood assistance.

Among the beneficiaries who received the cash assistance are hotels, bars and resto staff, massage therapists and blind masseurs, single parents, persons with disability, service crews, and fisherfolks.

Meanwhile, more than a thousand individuals volunteered to undergo the free drug-testing during the caravan held at People’s Park Davao from December 16 to 18.

Rep. Duterte thanked all the beneficiaries who attended the caravan and lauded their support to the anti-drug campaign of the government. The campaign is still a priority under President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s administration.

The young congressman also coordinated with the concerned barangay officials to ensure widest reach of the caravan to its beneficiaries, which would come from the first district of the city.

Rep. Duterte partnered with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to make this caravan possible.
