San Fernando, Pampanga—Over 2.7 million students in Central Luzon have been enrolled in government and private schools and are expected to join in the opening of classes today through distance learning (digital and modular), the Department of Education Regional Office 3 said.

“Education must continue despite of the pandemic as we all ensure the health and safety of our learners and personnel. Together, we will learn, and we will heal as one,” said DepEd-3 in a statement.

The DepEd Regional Policy, Planning and Research Division stated that a total of 2,732,479 learners in Central Luzon are enrolled for School Year 2020-2021 as of October 1.

“We are more than ready to respond to the challenges of the New Normal Education thru the implementation of the Regional Learning Continuity Plan. We hope to have provided the necessary guidance and technical assistance to the schools division offices and basic education schools both public and private,” DepEd Regional Director Nicolas Capulong said during Friday’s virtual kick-off program.

Capulong commended teachers, school heads, non-teaching personnel and school division superintendents for taking on the challenge to adapt to the new mode of teaching and learning for the coming school year.

He expressed gratitude to DepEd partners in education like our local government officials, media partners “and other benevolent groups and individuals who tirelessly support us.”

Capulong personally thanked parents and students for trusting DepEd’s efforts by deciding to enroll this school year.
