NV jail’s innovations help PDLs

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—The various program innovations inside the Provincial Jail here are a big help to the Good Conduct Time Allowance among the Persons Deprived of Liberty.

“Our PDLs here are given various productive opportunities while they are being taken cared and rehabilitated. Our worthwhile activities account for the PDLs’ GCTA,” said Provincial Warden Carmelo Andrada.

He said livelihood, educational, spiritual and health programs and activities are being conducted inside the Provincial Jail to help PDLs into a complete transformation once they are released.

These programs and activities are contributing a lot to the PDLs GCTA, thereby shortening their stay at the PJ.

PDLs inside the PJ are offered to enroll in Alternative Learning System ALS), join religious and spiritual activities, physical fitness exercises and various livelihood skills development training.

“Recipients of our skills development trainings are now involved in producing local products and are now earning for their families,” Andrada said.

The innovative programs and activities are conducted and offered by the PJ in partnership with the religious sector, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Trade and Industry, DepEd and non-government organizations. 

Andrada said these innovations have contributed to the peace and harmony among PDLs inside the PJ, making them more industrious and productive for their future.
