Chinese kidnap victim rescued in Sta. Rosa; 2 suspects arrested

Camp BGen Vicente P Lim, Calamba City – Members of Sta Rosa City Police Station rescued a Chinese kidnap victim at Blk 1 Lot 6 Phase 1C, San Lorenzo South Subdivision, Barangay Malitlit, Sta Rosa City, Laguna.

The victim, identified as Zhang Jia Ning, 24, native of Hunan, China, student and resident of Pink House, Intramuros, Manila, was allegedly kidnapped by fellow Chinese at the parking lot of PITX, Parañaque, and was brought to Sta Rosa City, Laguna where she was detained for three days.

The incident drew immediate action from the Sta Rosa police, when reports reached the station about a nude Chinese female, handcuffed, bloodied and crawling on the cemented pavement.

According to the witness, the victim sought help after jumping from the second floor of the building where she was detained. Responding swiftly, police rescued the female Chinese with the help of other concerned citizens.

Meanwhile, a coordination was made by officers of Sta Rosa Police Station with the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) Luzon Field Units, which led to the identification and arrest of the suspects Xie Jing Long, 25, and Sheng Likun, 35, at J.B Village, Brgy Balibago, Sta Rosa City. Both suspects are natives of China, single, and jobless.

Recovered from the suspects were a caliber 45 pistol and a magazine with live ammunition. Other evidence recovered from the suspects’ possession were cellphones, clothing, cartridges and magazine for firearms, and monetary bills worth P137,555.00.

The suspects will be charged for violation of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code (Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention) and additional case for violation of RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition).

“Our utmost priority is the safety and well-being of the victim. The successful rescue of the foreign national demonstrates the dedication and proficiency of our police officers, as well as the concern showed by the witness, and for that, I commend the members of Sta Rosa Police Station and the residents for a job well done,” said PRO CALABARZON Regional Director Brig Gen Carlito Gaces.

“The PNP has been at the forefront of combating criminal activities, both domestically and internationally, and this latest operation serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment to upholding law and order in our communities.”

“We remain resolute in ensuring the safety and security of our citizens and residents, as well as foreign nationals residing in the country,” said Gen. Gaces.
