LOS BAÑOS — Healthserv Los Baños Medical Center, an outstanding pillar of compassionate and efficient healthcare services in the south, celebrated its 20th anniversary by opening the elderly care ARUGA at ALAGA Heaven project to the community last June 9.

Back in 2002, the municipality of Los Banos was blessed to see the rise of a multi-specialty clinic and diagnostic center called Healthserv. It was a project led by a group of 11 doctors with a vision of offering quality medical services to the community.

Located in the heart of Laguna, the vision of the 11 founders of this institution thrived and grew its roots to be named a “center of excellence” by PhilHealth in 2010.

Fast forward 20 years later, Healthserv Los Banos Medical Center (HSLBMC), as it is now called, has continued to provide quality healthcare service with its Level 2 Hospital category, its 92-bed capacity, and specialty centers within its core, meeting the fulfillment of the founders’ dreams.

HSLBMC then became part of Mount Grace Hospital Inc. in 2016. MGHI is a network of hospitals whose mission is to provide an excellent and wide range of medical services in various areas of the country.

This partnership paved the way for the availability of outstanding healthcare services to the community through a more professional engagement and efficiency, which enabled HSLBMC to become one of the true pillars of healthcare service in the south area, a vision shared by both.

On the day of its 20th anniversary, it again featured its persistent growth, highlighting the blessing and opening of its newly reconstructed Cardiac Center located on its IPD-Hospital Building ground floor.

The center now has a more sufficient area to cater efficiently to cardiovascular clients and integrates a state-of-the-art care facility, adding to the competent performance of its roster of cardiac specialists headed by Dr. Emmanuel Lantican and Dr. Rojohn Maliwat in all aspects of cardiovascular care.

The event also featured its Executive VIP Lounge, dedicated to its well and able clients availing the most coordinated and relaxed executive annual health screening in the community.

Another great service feature of HSLBMC is a commitment to its core values truly dedicated to those looking for quality and compassionate service without going far to the metro.

More featured healthcare services were emphasized during its Press Conference held last June 6. The event highlighted the newly built Pediatric Respiratory Clinic also known as the “Sick Kids Clinic”, discussed by Dra. Jocelyn Tababa (Pediatric), one of the founders of HSLBMC.

The clinic was strategically located away from the IPD and OPD buildings of the Hospital, an idea designed to give more protection to the kids during the pandemic.

Also featured were the Cancer Care facility by Dr. Maria Isabel Jamias (another founder of HSLBMC), the newly renovated Cardiac Center, the Eye Center headed by its chairman Dr. Orville Ocampo (an HSLBMC founder and Board of Director), and the upcoming big project for an Elderly Care haven.

The haven was discussed excitedly by Dr. Teri Laude, a consultant for family and community medicine) who will be leading it for the hospital.

The HSLBMC responds mainly to community healthcare needs and the growing senior community in Los Baños, said its new President. Mr. Melfred D. Sumaya and Business Development Officer Dr. Lisa Ang Santos.

They discussed the long-term development plans and corporate growth of Healthserv Los Banos in the years to come.

A heartwarming ceremony capped the anniversary highlights through a “Legacy Tree Planting” activity headed by its 12 founders and board of directors.

The planted trees symbolize a great deal of dedication and unfailing support for the growth of HSLBMC, a pledge made 20 years ago by these significant personalities who until today continuously live by their commitment to the institution.

“This is a legacy that shall endure through the years as the institution continues to sustain the lives of the community and neighboring areas it serves,” Sumaya said.
