Suarez hits back at detractors, ‘fake news’ against him

Quezon Rep. David “Jayjay” Suarez on Monday took a swipe at his detractors for spreading “manufactured, fabricated, and baseless corruption cases and other issues” against him.
According to the lawmaker, news articles came out last November 4, 2020 saying that he was supposedly charged before the Office of the Ombudsman with counts of “plunder, graft, malversation, and failure to render accounts” as well as “misappropriation of agricultural materials.”
In a statement, Suarez said the news articles “were quoted and used to spread fake news about me by circulating these to numerous social media pages associated to my political opponents to make the people believe that I had committed the crimes charged.”
The congressman belied the accusations and said he had waited since 2020 to receive documents, summons, and pleadings, but as of posting time still has not received anything.
He pointed out that politicking is the clear reason for the spread of disinformation, which he attributes to his political opponents who cannot accept their defeat.
“All of these accusations against me in these news articles pertaining to cases filed before the Office of the Ombudsman were all absolute nonsense. Since no criminal or administrative cases are pending against me based on the records of the Ombudsman, that could only mean that whatever were filed with the Office of the Ombudsman, as stated in those fake news articles, were considered as mere scraps of paper,” Suarez stated.
“While my political opponents choose to resort to cheap mudslinging, lies and fake news in their attempt to reverse their fate in the 2019 elections, I wish to focus on my accomplishments and credentials instead,” the lawmaker added.
Suarez is the primary proponent of many development and infrastructure projects, including the Sariaya bypass road and multiple agricultural improvement legislation not only for his district, but for the entire province of Quezon.
“Know that your desperate political moves only serve to prove that you are unworthy to be elected in office and to serve the people of Quezon Province,” Suarez told his critics.
