Torrential monsoon rains worsened by the recent typhoons “Henry,” “Inday” and “Josie” flooded large swathes and turned some areas in Bulacan into inland seas.

Mall giant SM recently sent its volunteers to flooded areas in Marilao to provide immediate relief to thousands of families affected by the recent calamities.

Through SM Foundation Inc.’s Operation Tulong Express program, around 1,500 families were given relief packs or “kalinga packs.”  These packs contain a kilo of rice, canned sardines, and instant noodles as well as bottled waters all packed in an eco-bag.

OPTE is SM Foundation’s emergency response to victims of natural calamities and disasters. Its implementation includes close coordination with Savemore and Hypermarket, Mall administration employees, and volunteers that include the mall’s Customer Relations Service team and the local government unit.
