GenTri, Meralco ink partnership

GENERAL TRIAS CITY —The General Trias City Government, led by Mayor Antonio “Ony” Ferrer, has signed a partnership with the Manila Electric Co. or Meralco for the Energizing Partnership Program for the city and a brighter tomorrow in simple rites at the city hall here.

Ferrer reiterated the importance of private-public partnerships to grow the local economy and help the local government to advance and improve the living conditions of the local folk. The GenTri LGU and Meralco “share the same mission to serve the people,” he said.

Ferrer signed the memorandum of understanding with Meralco’s Vice President Ferdinand O. Geluz, Head of HMB-South Business Area; Vice President Bernard H. Castro, Head of South Distribution Services. 

Meralco Area Manager Paolo P. Cruz and Vice Mayor Morit Sison were witnesses. Also present at the signing were city councilors and Provincial Board Member Kerby Salazar.

The parties also launched the Meralco prepaid electricity service, a convenient way for household users to keep track of their electricity consumption through mobile phone text notifications and to manage electricity expenses in budget-friendly load denominations.

The new service system runs with the latest smart-meters of Meralco that can help users detect outages and restore power immediately.
