BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—At least 15 college scholars of the provincial government here recently received financial assistance for their first semester schooling.

The scholars were chosen as recipients of the “Pamana ti Nueva Vizcaya” scholarship program through the Nueva Vizcaya State University in this town.

Each of the scholars received P18,000 for tuition and miscellaneous fees annually, P20,000 for a laptop on their second year, P2,000 for the first year and P1,000 per year for the following years for their uniforms, and a monthly stipend of P5,000 through the scholarship program.

Governor Carlos Padilla personally gave the assistance with Vice Governor Lambert Galima Jr. and several board members present.

“It is more practicable to shoulder all of the expenses of a few scholars so that they are assured of everything they need to graduate, rather than give just meager amounts to many scholars but are not sure to graduate because of lack of money for other expenses,” Padilla said.

The scholars are enrolled in agriculture-related courses at the NVSU, which are very relevant for the province as Nueva Vizcaya is mainly agricultural, the governor added.

The scholars must attain an average academic rating of 85 percent each semester and must not have a grade lower than 80 percent.
