The city government of Navotas welcomed new beneficiaries of the NavotaAs Arts and Athletic Scholarship Program for school year 2022-2023.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco signed a memorandum of agreement providing scholarship to ten

young Navoteños who have shown exemplary talent in arts and sports.

The nine student artists were granted scholarship following the rigorous selection process conducted by special screening committees in five artistic disciplines, namely visual arts, music, dance, theater arts, and creative writing.

Whereas, the lone athletic scholar is a student-athlete who was a winner in the National Invitational Sports Competition as certified by the Schools Division Office-Navotas.

“We are confident in the ability of the Navoteño youth to excel in any field. We recognize each of their individual competencies and support not only those who excel in academics, but also in other pursuits,” Tiangco said.

“The NavotaAs Scholarship Program is our way of helping open doors for them and increase their opportunities to succeed in life. Through this, we hope they would be able to further hone their talents and help them achieve their dreams,” he added.

The city government provides art scholars P16,500 per academic year for transportation and food, and P20,000 for workshop and training.

On the other hand, athletic scholars receive P16,500 every academic year for their transportation and food, and P1,500 for uniform and equipment.

Since its establishment in 2011, the NavotaAs Scholarship Program has been able to support the education of more than 1,000 students and teachers.

The city government also offers scholarships to students who have exhibited outstanding academic performance and to children or relatives of the Top Ten Most Outstanding Fisherfolk.
