The City Government of Navotas received recognition from the Department of Health – Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) for its successful implementation of the National Immunization Program.

Acting Navotas City Health Officer, Dr. Eric C. Caseñas, received the award during the DOH-MMCHD 35th Founding Anniversary celebration last October 14, 2022 at the Manila Hotel.

Navotas is a consistent top performer among local government units in Metro Manila in terms of providing immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases.

In 2021, the city scored 101.11% in Measles-Rubella Supplementary Immunization Activity (MR-SIA).

It also exceeded its target in Measles-Rubella-Tetanus-Diphtheria Community-Based Immunization (MR-Td-CBI) on the same year with 129.76% inoculation rate in Measles-Rubella and 124.64% in Tetanus-Diphtheria.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco thanked the City Health Office personnel for their dedicated service to Navoteño children.

“This award reflects our steadfast commitment to deliver to our constituents the best health care services available for them,” he said.

In June, Navotas received a certificate of recognition from DOH for the successful run of the “Chikiting Bakunation Days” campaign.

The city inoculated 929 children aged 0-23 months, which was 115.12% higher than its initial target.

The National Immunization Program award came with P150,000 cash grant which will be used to fund other essential medical and health services in the city.
