Makati City hall employees will be receiving an additional bonus this year as a reward “for their exemplary work and dedication as civil servants, ”Mayor Abigail Binay said on Wednesday.

Binay said Makati was the “only local government unit in Metro Manila” that has been qualified to receive a performance-based bonus (PBB) from the national government.

“The performance-based bonus for city hall employees is well-deserved.

This is a nod to our hardworking and dedicated public servants who have always put the interests of our constituents first. I am proud of what we have achieved and I am confident that we will continue to do our best to serve the people of Makati,” Binay said.

The announcement was released by the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Harmonization of National Government Performance Monitoring, Information, and Reporting Systems. A total of 366 LGUs nationwide are eligible to receive the PBB for fiscal year 2021.

Mayor Binay said that more than the monetary value of the bonus, she was glad that Makati has been recognized as a model LGU in terms of good governance and public service.

“This is a strong validation of our efforts to promote clean, honest, and efficient government. We will continue to uphold these values as we work towards making Makati an inclusive, livable, and sustainable city for all,” Binay said.

The PBB is a top-up bonus given to employees based on their contribution to the achievement of the LGU’s targets and commitments for the fiscal year. It was introduced in 2012 to reward and encourage exemplary performance among public servants.

Agencies, departments, and LGUs are judged based on four criteria of accountability: performance results, process results, financial results, and citizen/client satisfaction results.

To qualify for the grant, the LGU must attain a total score of at least 70 points, and achieve at least a rating of 4 for at least three criteria based on the PBB scoring system.

The PBB was designed to encourage improved performance and better accountability. It also aimed to promote accountable public service, and keep track of improvements and innovations in the delivery of public goods and services.

The PBB was being given yearly to eligible departments, agencies, and LGUs in the country.

The Unified Reporting System (URS) – generated Budget and Financial Accountability Reports (BFARs) are used to monitor and validate LGU accomplishments. The reports must be submitted within 30 days after the end of each quarter.
