The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recognized Las Piñas as a “Safe City” in Metro Manila in conjunction with the 121st Police Service Anniversary held recently at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headquarters in Taguig City.

Las Piñas City police commander Col. Jaime Santos presented the plaque of recognition to Mayor Imelda Aguilar on Aug. 15, signed by then NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad.

Aguilar congratulated the local police for making Las Piñas a “safer place to live in.”

She said the award was based on the police performance making Las Piñas as the city with the least crime incidence.

The mayor also said the city police has recorded the highest number of arrests of crime suspects.

“I am proud of our Las Piñas police, they have made our city a “safe city” in the entire NCR (National Capital Region) and I also congratulate Col. Jaime Santos and our police officers who maintain peace and order in our city,” Aguilar said. Joel E. Zurbano

Aguilar added that the 5K program (Kalusugan, Kaayusan, Kaalaman, Kalinisan, Kinabukasn), which the city government was implementing, was also part of her administration’s “Tuloy ang Tapat at Progresibong Serbisyo.”

She said the biggest factor on how the local police force made the city as safer place to live was through police visibility and conduct of checkpoints in coordination with the different barangays in the city.
