The Caloocan City Health Department (CHD) conducted a simultaneous “Libreng Chest X-ray” program in University of Caloocan City Congress and South campuses this Wednesday, July 6.

As part of Caloocan City Mayor Along Malapitan’s directive during his first cabinet meeting, health services should be localized to reach more citizens, especially those who cannot afford such services.

“Kailangan ibaba natin sa tao at sa mga komunidad ang dekalidad at libreng serbisyong medikal, lalo sa higit na nangangailangan dahil hindi lahat ay may kakayanan magpa check-up o magpa-test,” he said.

According to City Health Officer Dr. Evelyn Cuevas, this project aims to detect early signs of tuberculosis and help prevent the spread of the disease.

“It is highly curable and preventable. We are refocusing our programs to improve the overall public health situation in the city, starting from our students,” Dr. Cuevas said in a short speech before the activity.
