The Taguig City government has put up registration booths and deployed shuttle vehicles at COVID-19 vaccination checkpoints in the city to ensure that residents can have easier access to inoculation.

On Monday, more than 450 individuals unvaccinated against COVID-19 who were flagged at checkpoints and wanted to get inoculated were brought to the city’s vaccination hubs where they got their first jabs of the vaccine.

The local government also implements the exemptions for those who are unvaccinated that they may still travel but are limited to the buying of essential goods, as well as those persons whose medical conditions prevent them from being inoculated.

Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano thanked the Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año after the agency expressed its intention in replicating the initiative of Taguig in other parts of Metro Manila.

Cayetano said he will continue to work while in isolation after he got infected with the virus.

“Our focus during this period will be taking care of our citizens by capacitating them with a deeper understanding of the virus and how to manage cases including access to all our services like testing, telemedicine, delivery of medicine and vaccination,” he said.

Cayetano said the city government will continue to lead the transition to the new normal.

“Moving from pandemic to endemic, making the virus endemic, getting used to living with it is up to us, on how fast we act and adjust. Government must lead in this transition,” Cayetano said.

As of Monday, Taguig has already vaccinated 834,449 individuals or 95 percent of the total population.

Of the number, 771,245 individuals or 88 percent of the total population have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

A total of 1,699,212 jabs have already been administered across Taguig’s vaccination hubs.
