QC urges residents to get booster shot

The Quezon City government on Sunday urged its residents to get booster shots immediately amid the threat of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Its Task Force Omicron immediately held a meeting to discuss the city’s strategies in curbing the spread of the infection.

OCTA Research Fellow Fr. Nick Austriaco said based on the data from other countries, the Omicron variant is less potent than the Delta variant, though it is much more transmissible and infectious.

“If one person gets sick in the house, it is twice as easy for Omicron to infect the household,” he said.

Inevitably, this means that it is likely that entire households in Quezon City will become infected with the Omicron variant, he said.

The city government has enough supply of AstraZeneca vaccines for boosters after the city immediately procured 1.1 million doses of the life-saving jabs.
