Newly crowned Face of Beauty 2019 Riza Dormiendo is a neophyte in the beauty pageant circuit.  She is more familiar with mountain climbing.

“The last mountain I climbed was Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines. I trekked Mount Apo for four days and three nights. I am proud to say  I am the oldest in the group. Most of them were half my age!” the 55-year-old Riza says.

Because of her feat as a mountaineer, different radio talk shows invited Riza to discuss her passion.

Riza also excels in Argentine tango, and was proclaimed grand champion of Argentine Tango in an event organized by Dance Sports Council of the Philippines at the Meralco Theater last year.

“In the talent portion of the pageant, I showed them why I became champion of Argentine Tango. I was supposed to dance alone with my imaginary partner but I realized it takes two to tango. So I brought my dance partner with me,” she explains.

Riza loves testing her limits. She challenged herself to run at the National Geographic Marathon for 21K. She finished in three hours and 34 minutes.

Riza is also a  member of Rotary International and Innerwheel Club, and plans to run for president in the latter organization.

“I’ve been into business for 30 years and counting. I am proud to receive several recognitions from Malacanang, especially during the time of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo,” she adds.

Meanwhile, Riza is looking forward to competing in the Face of Beauty international pageant in  New Zealand this year.  Her husband and daughter are behind her all the way.
