Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco -Salazar (second from left) receives a check for P16 million from Western Mindanao Power Corp. plant manager Jose Marie Torrejon (second from right).  The Alsons Power Group’s WMPC turned over the amount to Zamboanga City for the campaign against COVID-19. WMPC operates a 100-mega-watt diesel power plant that provides electricity to Zamboanga City. The funds were set aside by WMPC under Department of Energy Energy Regulation 1-94 that mandates power generators to allot P0.0025 per kilowatt-hour of total electricity sales to help fund the health, electrification and environmental projects of host communities and local government units.
