Thick, black smoke belches from MV Filipinas Dinagat, a Philippine-registered passenger ship which caught fire in the waters off Binongkalan Point, Cebu around 10:45 p.m Thursday night (July 23, 2020) .

The Coast Guard battled the fire and rescued all 45 crewmen of the ill-fated vessel bound for Leyte. It remained ablaze until early morning of July 24, 2020 Friday, Coast Guard said. Two tugboats towed the burning ship owned by Cokaliong Shipping Lines to the nearest port.   Three of the survivors giving details of the mishap to the coastguards.
