Power rate reduction

Manila Electric Company announces that power rates decreased for the second straight month in February to P8.8623 per kilowatt-hour, the lowest level in two years. Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga says that with the rate reduction, a typical household consuming 200 kWh monthly will experience savings of around P118 in their February 2020 bill.  The implementation of new power supply agreements starting Dec. 26, 2019 helped bring down the generation charge. These PSAs were secured after a successful competitive selection process under the guidance of the Department of Energy and the expeditious provisional approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission.
