The Department of Tourism will prioritize the promotion of emerging and less-known destinations across the country and highlight the Filipino culture and identity to further position the Philippines as a tourism powerhouse in Asia.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco underscored the commitment of the DOT to give equal opportunities for tourism development and promotion, which put emphasis on providing opportunities to less-known destinations.

“Our president recognizes the power that tourism holds as far as its ability to change the lives of our fellow Filipinos. No other industry is able to give such a great opportunity for economic advancement in the farthest places in our country other than tourism. His directive is to allow tourism to be seen, felt, and heard in the countryside; to leave no one behind in the development of tourism,” she said during the Bisita, Be My Guest grand launch in SOCCSKSARGEN on Friday.

She said the department was embarking on an aggressive program to give attention not only to key destinations but also to emerging and less-known destinations.

BBMG is a promotional tool that encourages Filipinos to open their homes to traveling foreign visitors as sponsors while the guests, under the program, are called “invitees”.

The promo is giving away prices like condominium units from Megaworld Corp. and SMDC, house-and-lot units from Amaia Land, shopping perks from Rustan’s and SM Supermalls.
