GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. said Thursday it is on track to open the new terminal at Mactan Cebu International Airport by June this year.

“As of February, the construction of the new terminal is at 96-percent completion and we are all excited to count the days until we open Terminal 2 to the traveling public,” GMCAC president Louie Ferrer said.

GMCAC started a program called Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer earlier this year to ensure that T2 would be ready for operations by intensively testing its facilities, processes and policies, IT and airport systems and manpower readiness.

“The most critical planning aspect for Terminal 2 opening is the testing of its operational readiness and the alignment of various processes. At this point, we are ensuring that all facilities and processes are ready for commercial operations in June. This is where our ORAT concept of preparing for the commissioning of T2 comes into effect,” GMCAC chief executive advisor Andrew Harrison said.

The ORAT Program will be conducted in phases until the start of commercial operations of T2 in June.

The first phase will start with familiarization and walkthrough training for all airport employees, followed by different trial phases.
