Transmission network operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said Wednesday it energized the Baloi-Aurora 138-kiloVolt line, two days after a bomb explosion toppled Tower No. 8 in Lanao del Norte province.

NGCP said it restored the line, which serves the entire Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental and parts of Lanao del Norte, at 4:39 a.m. on Oct. 26.

NGCP said it fast-tracked the dismantling of the toppled Tower No. 8 and erected an emergency restoration system to restore the affected line less than 36 hours after the incident.

The tower, located in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, was bombed by lawless elements on Oct. 24 using improvised explosive devices.

“It is NGCP’s mandate to provide reliable power transmission services. We are committed to our mandate, and we will continue to deliver on this commitment, despite challenges posed by lawless elements,” NGCP said.

“We laud the efforts and bravery of our line personnel who pursued immediate restoration without hesitation. We thank the local police and armed forces who secured the area and ensured the safety of our people,” the company said.

NGCP said malicious activities intended to damage or cripple its transmission lines and facilities that may cause power interruptions creates a burden to ordinary power consumers.
