AP Cargo embraces digitization

Local logistics provider company AP Cargo signed a multimillion-dollar deal with global enterprise software player Ramco for its logistics software on Aug. 9.

Ramco beat local and global competitors and secured its partnership with AP Cargo.

Under the partnership, AP Cargo’s integrated logistics platform will be rolled out next year and will benefit more than 1,600 employees, covering more than 500 fleet, reducing manual workloads and generating cost savings while automating tedious administrative tasks.

Having to witness rapid growth in the region of the Philippines, with nearly 40 percent of the new order booking for Asia-Pacific in 2017- 2018, Ramco’s continuous thrust on logistics segment and focus on employing some of the innovative minds locally, has been strengthening the company’s position in the region.

“This win represents another milestone in our ongoing journey to strengthen our presence in the high-growth Asean economies,” said Ramco Systems chief executive Virender Aggarwal.

The partnership does not only aim to increase cost savings for AP Cargo but it will also serve as an opportunity for its employees to have a better opportunity to grow, said AP Cargo president and chief executive Virgilio Villacorte.

Villacorte said his two sons heavily influenced the decision to sign the agreement with Ramco and one of them is vice president for business operations Vincent John Villacorte.

“I didn’t know how to do it until my youngest came with his brother and kept on pushing me on something that we don’t have much money in our pockets for,” said Villacorte.

He said that as a person who was born in a generation naive with digitization, he kept on settling for second best. “It was hard for me to weigh. I came to a point when I asked my wife ‘let’s listen to the voice of these two boys.’”

“The decision to automate our manual systems with a future-ready logistics suite is part of a larger strategy to overhaul our supply chain. Ramco’s unified solution will offer real-time operational visibility and better planning capabilities, enabling us to arrest revenue leakage and boost productivity to drive overall growth,” said Vicent John Villacorte.
