Dyson expanding Laguna operations

CALAMBA, Laguna”•British consumer product manufacturer Dyson Electronics Pte. Ltd. is increasing its capital investments in the Philippines to $70 million to expand its operations in Laguna province.

Dyson Electronics chief operating officer Jim Rowan said the company was adding a new line to produce Dyson-patented motors for a new model of the cordless vacuum cleaner.  It will also produce another product that will involve additional investment of $20 million in the first quarter.

“We are disrupting the market to create technology. We have raised as much as 2.5 billion pounds that we will use to develop new products in the next few years. These products are not seen in the world yet. That means we’re putting in a good deal of money to come with up the best technology,” he said.

Dyson started operating in the Philippines in April 2016 producing motors for the supersonic hairdryer and cordless vacuum cleaner, two of the most popular consumer items Dysilon manufactures.

It celebrated its 1 millionth motor unit shipped to production bases in Singapore and Malaysia in April.
