The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines said Wednesday it expects an additional 1.1 million jobs and almost $60 billion in total industry revenues by 2028 or at the end of the term of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

IBPAP chief of policy and regulatory affairs Celeste Ilagan said during the Laging Handa briefing the industry had become a strong pillar for economic growth.

Ilagan said the industry contributed 1.44 million full-time employees in 2022.

“Even during the pandemic, the industry grew and created more jobs. The industry also generated revenues to the economy of about $30 billion,” Ilagan said.

Ilagan said they were expecting an 8.5-percent increase in headcount and 10 percent annual revenue growth for the industry.

The industry is asking the government to continue with the hybrid work and make it easy for the industry to do business in the country, it said.

“Ease of doing business and what the most important is to make sure that workers have the right skills for jobs that continue to evolve and that we should have enough manpower to supply the industry’s requirement,” she said.

IBPAP is the primary trade body and advocacy group of the country’s agile, dynamic and resilient IT and business process management sector.

The group has over 300 members and six partner associations—the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc., Global In-House Center Council, Philippines, Contact Center Association of the Philippines, Game Developers Association of the Philippines, Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines and the Philippine Software Industry Association.

IBPAP plays a pivotal role in sustaining the growth of the IT-BPM industry by working with stakeholders in the government and academe to ensure an enduring supply of high-quality labor, support service innovation and provide country visibility.
