Transpacific Broadband Group Int’l Inc. said Monday it plans to submit a proposal to the government to build a micro-satellite project.

The company said in a disclosure to the stock exchange it is developing a five-year program for a private public partnership with the government in a micro-satellite project that may reduce government cost of satellite connectivity by 50 percent.

TGBI said the Micro-SAT technology could provide 10 gigabits of Ka or Ku bands that could easily connect 10,000 sites with speeds of 50 mbps per site.

“With the PPP project, the Philippine government can own, control and operate its own satellite for both civilian and military purposes, digitally transforming the rural community with various applications of government service, while Transpacific can distribute Internet bandwidths to private entities,” the company said.

TGBI also said its board approved a P100-million investment to jumpstart the Philippine market Internet of Things solutions for various industries.
