Smart Communications Inc. said it is set to finish the first round of cell site upgrades in Quezon City this month.
“These network upgrades in Quezon City and in other parts of the metro and the country are part of our broader effort to deliver world-class internet service to our customers,” PLDT Inc. and Smart senior vice president for network planning and engineering Mario Tamayo said.
Recent internal tests showed LTE download speeds ranging from 29 Mbps to 224 Mbps in Quezon City areas like Batasang Pambansa and Quezon City Circle, as Smart expands its rollout of Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) and carrier aggregation (CA) technology across Metro Manila to provide better mobile data experience to customers. The speeds were reached using handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and S7.
Average daily data revenue also increased in Quezon City by 23 percent, while LTE device usage was up 33 percent between September 2017 and March 2018.
