Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez signed an order reinstating the mandatory compliance requirement for flat glass.
“We want to ensure the quality standard of each glass product and protect consumers. These products must be produced by PS (Philippine Standard) certified plants and all imports should pass quality test for their ICC (Import Clearance) mark,” he said Friday.
The order prescribed the technical regulations for mandatory PS licensing scheme for glass products covered by particular PNS such as flat glass, heat-strengthened and fully-tempered flat glass, laminated glass and laminated safety glass products covered by PNS 12543-2 and PNS 12543-3, respectively, and bent glass covered by PNS ASTM C 1464.
All glass products will be submitted for sampling by Bureau of Product Standards, Trade Regional Office or the BPS inspection body within a prescribed time and in accordance with existing BPS inspection and sampling procedure.
