Shopee Philippines director Martin Yu said the platform has pivoted with the times to embrace innovations to bring consumers and sellers closer and bring the best online shopping experience for millions of Filipinos.

“Shopee welcomes the second half of the year with a bang as we launch the Shopee 6.6 to 7.7 Mid-Year Sale. We’re proud of all the milestones we’ve achieved in the first half of the year, and starting with this campaign, we look forward to reaching new ones. With our supersized 6.6 to 7.7 Mid-Year Sale and TV special, Shopee aims to spread joy to Filipinos, cater to their needs and remain a valued partner to our brands and sellers,” Yu said in a pre-event briefing.

Coming from an eventful 2020 where e-commerce gained momentum, he recalled that Shopee started the year with its 2.2 cashback sale. Consumers received 20-percent cashback on the best brands and amazing prizes during the 2.2 Shopee Milyonario special which reached millions of viewers in the Philippines.

In March, Shopee launched the 3.3 to 4.4 Mega Shopping Sale, the first-quarter campaign.  Yu said items sold during the 4.4 campaign posted a six-fold increase across the region, compared to a regular day.

“During our recently concluded 5.5 festival, Shopee reaffirmed its position as the platform of choice by your favorite brands to promote and sell their products. As Filipinos shop for their favorite brands, Shopee saw its top selling brands achieve up to a 30-fold uplift in orders,” he said.

Shopee also launched its monthly Payday Sale, providing Filipinos a more rewarding shopping experience and enabling them to make the most out of every A-Kinse, with exciting P1 deals and much more.

“We want Filipinos to look forward to payday shopping with the same anticipation and excitement as our monthly mega sales. So mark your calendars every A-Kinse for the Shopee Payday Sale. More Filipinos shifted towards the digital transactions amid the pandemic, seeing how this was the more convenient and worthwhile option in the safety of their own homes,” Yu said.

The platform came up with the innovative Shopee Pay that has become a trusted partner for buyers and sellers in their shopping journey. Shopee Pay makes online shopping convenient and safe by providing a secure platform that consumers and sellers can take comfort in using.

Shopee Pay continues to grow its roster of partner merchants. To date, users can send money, donate to partner organizations, shop by load and pay bills hassle-free from over 37 different partners and counting.

In 2021, Shopee also helped many MSMEs digitize and scale to reach a wider audience through collaborative efforts with the government and industry partners. In February, Shopee teamed up with the Department of Trade and Industry to support small local businesses from across the country through Tatak Pinoy virtual trade fair. The fair showcased over 8,600 items, ranging from artisanal delicacies to handcrafted items from small Filipino businesses.

Following the success of its 2020 Run, the Tatak Pinoy National Food Fair ventured online for the first time with the help of Shopee. More than 3,500 food and beverages items from local MSMEs were exhibited.

“And we continue our vision to help MSMEs grow. We gathered industry giants for a session of learning in the first ever Shopee University summit wherein 600 entrepreneurs signed up to hear innovation trends, best practices, digital tools and platforms to bring their businesses online,” Yu said.

The summit featured leaders from Shopee, Facebook, Globe and other partners, as well as successful sellers who shared insights on how MSMEs can effectively bring their businesses online. Recently, Shopee launched the Shopee Bayanihan Frontliner Package 2021 program, which saw more than 12,000 signups.

“This was an effort to thank all our frontliners by giving them major discounts and vouchers that they can use as necessities, such as utilities, food and hygiene products. And as we finished the first half of the year strong, we plan to ride this momentum and continue elevating the online shopping experience for all Filipinos,” Yu said.

On welcoming the second half of 2021, Shopee remains committed to the following—continue to create exciting and innovative mega-campaigns that cater to Filipino shoppers and seller needs, remain a valued partner to more brands and sellers as they grow their online businesses and strengthen the local teams by hiring the best to meet the demand.

Shopee aims to celebrate the Mid-Year Sale with several themed days until July 7, featuring amazing deals and promotions, such as Prizes Day, Vouchers Day, Payday Sale, Flash Deal Sale, Shopee Mall Sale, Shopee Big Day, among others.

“On June, 6, you will be able to enjoy these amazing deals and rewards all day—P1 deals on a wide array of products, 20 percent cashback on multiple categories, and free shipping with zero minimum spend,” Yu said.
