Throughout the years, Summit has been consistent in supporting Filipino athletes and the Filipino community in terms of redefining their limits and making breakthroughs that pushes Filipinos to claim renowned global legacy.

Contributing to the training and hydration of athletes, Summit enjoins Filipinos to rally behind Filipina weight lifter Hidilyn Diaz and Filipino pole vaulter Ernest John “EJ” Obiena as they make their preparations for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

The first Filipina to win an Olympic Medal, Diaz made her mark by bagging the silver medal in the women’s 53-kilogram weight division in the 2016 Summer Olympics.  Her triumph ended the Philippines’ 20-year Olympic medal drought.

Along with that, she also brought home various medals from different competitions and categories from all around the world.

Meanwhile, Obiena is the first Filipino to have received a scholarship from the International Athletic Association Federation. He holds the Philippine national record in pole vaulting with a record of 5.55 meters at the 78th Singapore Open Championship in 2016.

Obiena won a gold medal after he broke the Asian Athletics Championship record with 5.71 meters in 2019.

As a show of support to Diaz, Obiena and other Filipino athletes, Summit gives back to Filipino athletes by releasing commemorative Summit Sports Label Bottles where every Summit natural drinking water bottle purchased contributes to the training and hydration of Filipino athletes.

“We take pride in knowing that despite the obvious challenges and hardships today, the sheer Filipino spirit is proven to be more than capable of breaking through these barriers and emerging from them stronger than they were before. HidilynDiaz and EJ Obiena is a testament to this, and it is with this sentiment that we take great honor in being a part of our athletes’ pursuit to greatness,” said Asia Brewery Inc. marketing manager Jill Villanueva.

She said the brand has a lot of exciting plans for the sport community and for Filipinos for the rest of the year.

Summit and the Philippine Olympic Committee have been jointly supporting each other for 16 years, ensuring that Filipino athletes get proper hydration they need while in training and help them win more medals for the Philippines, Villanueva said.

“And over time, Summit expanded to be the hydrating partner of every active Filipinos, giving them the right minerals and proper hydration they will be needing to help them do more in their everyday lives and help them achieve and reach more goals. This year, like the years past, Summit Drinking Water continues to be a part of the Filipino nation in vouching for the gold for our country with our #ThirstFor Gold campaign,” she said.

Philippine Olympic Committee deputy secretary-general Karen Caballero said the POC deeply appreciates Asia Brewery’s support to national athletes.
