Pilmico Foods Corp. is focusing on research and development capabilities to expand its product portfolio in the food business, a top executive said over the weekend.
“We are giving this an extra level of focus in the group in 2022 through the expansion of our R&D capabilities across the region. We believe this to be another growth area in 2023,” said Pilmico president and chief executive Tristan Aboitiz.
Aboitiz said the company recognized the significance of adding value to customers through a diverse set of products and services. He said another growth area for the company is the thriving pet food segment which responded to a spike in demand for pet foods during the pandemic.
The company introduced its premium pet food brand for cats early this year. The company’s dry pet food brands are available through virtual stores and selling platforms.
A new line of pet food products, such as treats and wet food options, is also in the pipeline for 2023. “While volumes remain minimal to date, they are growing at a healthy clip, and we look forward to bigger contributions from the category in 2023 and beyond,” Aboitiz said. Othel V. Campos
