Max’s Group Inc. said over the weekend it plans to expand beyond the brick-and-mortar stores with the opening of 143 access points to serve customers this year.

MGI president Ariel Fermin said in a briefing following the annual stockholders’ meeting the plan was to open 60 physical stores, 33 cloud kitchens and 50 delivered fresh daily doors this year.

He said of the 60 stores, nine would be opened overseas, particularly in North America where sales recovered strongly since the pandemic.

MGI aims to have a total of 720 stores in its network by end-2022.

Fermin said the company would also expand its cloud kitchens nationwide after delivering strong results last year. One cloud kitchen is delivering sales equivalent to three physical stores, he said.

MGI remains confident about its organic growth this year as it set up plans to mitigate the impact of cost pressures.
