DoubleDragon Properties Inc. expects to secure within the next 12 months 40 more sites to build 100 community malls across the country.

DoubleDragon president Edgar Injap Sia II said in a recent interview the company had already secured 60 sites for the CityMalls and would secure the remaining 40 over the next 12 months.

This will enable the company to meet its 2020 commitment to have 100 CityMalls by 2020.

Sia said the company would soon start by opening next month the first few cinemas within CityMalls in partnership with media company ABS-CBN Corp.

“Eleven cinemas are now done. But ABS-CBN is just phasing the opening schedule. But we also hope to have 100 cinemas located in all our CityMalls by 2020 also,” Sia said.

“This partnership with ABS-CBN will further enhance our CityMalls because in most areas the cinemas that we will opening will be the first in the community,” Sia said.

Sia said the group also began acquiring sites for hotels under the JinJiang Inn brand. The group is set to announce within the next two months its plan to build two additional JinJiang Inns in Boracay and Cagayan de Oro.

DoubleDragon, through hospitality unit Hotel of Asia Inc., has two operating JinJiang Inns at San Miguel Ave. in Ortigas and Pasay Road in Makati City.

HOA last year announced that it would spend P6.6 billion to accelerate the expansion of JinJiang Inns across the country by 2020. From an initial target of 1,000 rooms by 2020, the company doubled its goal to 2,000 JinJiang Inn rooms.
