The Bureau of Internal Revenue said Wednesday it surpassed its collection target for April by 11.67 percent or P35.114 Billion.

It said in a statement it collected P336.020 billion, net of tax refunds, higher by 40.24 percent or P96.416 billion compared to previous year’s collection in the same period.

The BIR said that in the first four months, its total collection reached P841.179 billion, up by 13.31 percent or P98.809 billion from the same period last year.

It also managed to surpass its collection goal by 1.73 percent or P14.319 billion for the four-month period.

“In the days to come, we hope to see a continuous improvement in the level of voluntary compliance of our taxpayers with the BIR’s registration, filing and tax payment requirements as the Bureau continues to implement programs and projects to make tax compliance easier for them,” BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr.
