On-Us Solutions Inc. (Byahe), a new transport company that received funding from a unit of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., disclosed plans to buy 500 electric vehicles and modern jeepneys in the next five years.

Laurence Bahia, chief executive of Byahe, said the company allocated P1.5 billion to acquire additional 200 electric vehicles and 300 modern jeepneys.

“A modern jeepney would cost around P2.1 million and P5.5 million for electric vehicle. We have investors who are very keen on investing into EVs,” Bahia said.

Byahe operates 30 environment-friendly, Euro-4 compliant jeepneys across seven routes in Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Nueva Ecija.

Byahe is a platform that connects jeepney operators, creditors, jeepney manufacturers, the government,t and ultimately, commuters to usher in a new era of safe, affordable, and sustainable public transportation services network. MPT Mobility, the innovations arm of MPTC, bought a significant minority stake in Byahe early this year.

Byahe was co-founded by Enrique Gonzalez, chief executive of IP Ventures Inc., and Brian Cu, former chief executive of Grab Philippines.

MPT Mobility said it would spend about P9.5 billion over the next five years to expand its toll service facility along North Luzon Expressway and its transportation company.

Rodrigo Franco, chief executive of MPTC, said NLEX Drive and Dine, an operating unit of MPT Mobility, would build eight new buildings in the next three to four years with an estimated investment of about P1 billion each, depending on the location.

NLEX Drive and Dine is the top motorists toll service facility along NLEX with an average daily foot traffic count of over 23,000 and an average daily vehicle count of over 7,000 on regular days and over 10,000 during peak seasons.

Meanwhile, Dibz, one of the operating units of MPT Mobility that provides a parking solution app, will set its footprint soon in Makati, particularly in the Dela Rosa 1, Dela Rosa 2 and Valero parking lots.

Dibz also expanded its offerings with the launch of its valet parking services at SM Premier Malls and Ayala Malls. Dibz was awarded the official valet parking service operator of SM Premier Malls in North EDSA, Mall of Asia and Aura as well as the Ayala Malls Group―Ayala Malls Feliz and Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

“With the investment that we are making, our goal is to raise [the] contribution [of MPT Mobility] to around 10 percent in three to five years. Right now, MPT Mobility is contributing less than 5 percent of the revenues of the entire MPTC, “ Franco said.

“It’s not easy considering that the expressway business is also growing rapidly that’s because we’ve been invested in the last three to four years. We’ve invested over P100 billion in expressways. Obviously, were expecting our expressway revenues to grow exponentially, but MPT mobility has to step up and grow their revenues,” he added.

MPT Mobility’s other operating units are Spot On, Easytrip Services Corp., MPT DriveHub, Savvice Corp., NLEX Drive and Dine, and Onehub.

“MPT Mobility enables Filipinos to travel with more ease and enjoyment through its efficient, effective, and modern mobility solutions. MPT Mobility plays a vital role in improving Filipinos’ travel experience with technology-driven products and services,” Franco said.
