JCV & Associates, a project and construction management firm, has teamed up with Digiscript, an information technology company, to introduce 3D technology in the local construction sector.

JCV & Associates founder and president Jason Valderrama said in a virtual forum that innovations helped his company improve operations.

Valderrama said technological platforms now provide “enhanced safety, greater transparency, cost efficiency and fast turnaround times”.

The company’s partnership with Digiscript, which has more than 15 years of experience in 3D visualization, maximizes technology to enhance construction operations by introducing ‘Reality Capture’ which uses three-dimensional scanning to digital representation.

“Reality Capture to put it simply, is using high-end sensors, cameras, lasers to basically capture the built environment and create a digital representation of the real-world conditions,” said Digiscript founder and president Conrad Alumpay.

Alampay said project management becomes more efficient as 3D representation provides a better and more accurate portrayal of the environment where the construction takes place in real-time.

He said 3D scanning prevents further construction mistakes by giving an actual picture of the site and initial structure, and this minimizes risks and safety hazards.

Digiscript and JCV and Associates will work with Openspace, a tech-based provider from San Francisco which specializes in 360-degree construction photo documentation.

Valderrama’s company is the first local construction project management firm to roll out Openspace in the country.

About three projects of the construction firm already used Openspace’s technology which features open source visualization software.

Alampay said clients who used Openspace technology found it cost-effective as issues are easier to detect, preventing health and safety hazards among workers.

Valderrama said the use of such technology as an investment is generally positive because of the benefits it provides.

“For large-scale projects, we’re actually reaping savings. We do not have to deploy a lot of engineers on site to physically manage a project. We just use Openspace in which we can actually track the progress of the construction,” he said.
