Isuzu expects higher sales

Isuzu Philippines Corp. said Wednesday it plans to sell 18,000 units of commercial vehicles and trucks in 2015, as Filipino consumers’ preference shift to multi-purpose vehicles both for business and personal use.

Isuzu Philippines president Nobuo Izumina said customer preference would play a crucial role in influencing the car sales trajectory.

“For instance, in our case, we do not have passenger cars. We sell commercial cars, SUVs, AUVs and trucks. And we see a gradual shifting in commercial cars category from SUVs to AUVs or MPVs,” Izumina said during the launch of the improved Isuzu Crosswind Wednesday night at One Esplanade in Pasay City.

The 2015 sales target represents an increase of 27 percent from the 2014 actual sales, data showed.  Isuzu Philippines sold 14,134 vehicles in 2014, up by 20 percent from 11,795 units it sold in 2013.

Izumina, however, said sales of Isuzu Crosswind were expected to drop 15 percent to 4,000 units in 2015 from 4,700 units in 2014, as the company expected Crosswind buyers to upgrade to the new Isuzu SUV model Mu X. Isuzu targets to sell up to 6,000 Mu X units in 2015.
