Palaweña Cindy Madumma bested 17 open water diver beauties from the four corners of the planet in the finals of the environmental Miss Scuba International 2015 pageant at Sutera Harbour Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on Nov.27.

Madduma, a 27-year-old graduate of nursing at Palawan State University, did a landscape painting of the St. Paul Underground River new wonders of nature during the talent portion of the contest.
Miss Scuba International promotes the welfare and wonders of the underwater world through beauty queens. Tabitha Eleanor Lipkin of USA, last year’s winner, handed her the title.
Madumma was Miss Global Philippines Tourism Ambassador 2014 and competed in Miss Tourism World 2014 in Caracas, Venezuela. She followed last year’s Amanda Dada and the first runner up finish of Paula Bernasor in 2013. Madumma wore a Muslim Princess designed national costume by Edwin Uy that won Best National Costume, the second win for Uy following Parul Shah at Miss Grand International 2015.
Miss Venezuela Kiara Aiello was first runner-up and Miss Congeniality, Miss USA Tessa Ptacek second runner-up while Miss United Kingdom Sarah Winterbottom and Miss Latvia Ilze Jankovska won Miss Photogenic and Miss Talent.
Aside from being certified scuba divers, the contestants were judged in individual talent, Scuba Tourism and Marine Conservation knowledge, personality, catwalk and appearance and interview.
The Miss Scuba International Organization, formed by Robert Lo in 2011, organized a beauty pageant that focuses on saving the oceans through the celebration of the inner beauty and courage of today’s modern women advocating worldwide marine conservation and protection. Lo hopes that through his pageant, more people would understand how fragile the oceans are and how to make a difference by protecting it for generations to come. –
