Viado becomes new mayor of Amadeo

AMADEO, Cavite―Vice Mayor Conrado “Rading” Viado has assumed the mayorship of the country’s “Coffee Capital” with the passing of Mayor Albert A. Ambagan Sr. due to a lingering illness last Dec. 3.

Ambagan Sr. served just 15 months after winning the 2016 election over incumbent Mayor Benjardi Villanueva. He was previously mayor of Amadeo from February 15, 1989 to June 30, 2001, and vice mayor of the upland town from 1984 to February 15, 1989.

Viado, a native of Barangay Tamacan here, will take the reins of the town and its 37,649 constituents, while top Councilor Leo Angelo Bayot will become Vice Mayor and the presiding officer of the Sangguniang Bayan, leading the nine municipal councilors.

Apart from its famous coffee farms, Amadeo is known for the Balite Falls in Barangay Banay Banay.
