R.O.X. encourages outdoor fun and play with Outdoor Festival 2018

In an age where our world revolves around anything and everything digital, going outside to soak up some sun might be a thing of the distant past. 

But this retail superstore aims to bring people back to the outside world other than the virtual realm everyone lives in. 

R.O.X. culminated their Play Outside summer campaign with their ultimate showpiece Outdoor Festival 2018 at Bonifacio High Street, BGC recently.

The two-day weekend culminating event last May 19-20 by R.O.X. took pride in promoting a responsible outdoor lifestyle as it plays a key role in nurturing the outdoor communities in the region.

Countless outdoor enthusiasts including media participants gathered for a serious dose of outdoor fun and play.

Aside from housing the biggest and most trusted outdoor brands, R.O.X. is also known for hosting highly anticipated outdoor recreational events and mobilizing outdoor-centric campaigns, ome of which is the highly-successful Outdoor festival last week. 

Driven by the mission to inspire more people to “Get Outside!” and discover the wonders of the outdoors, the offers the biggest collection of premium quality brands and products that cater to every outdoor enthusiast’s needs and passion. 

With a roster of brands including The North Face, Columbia Sportswear, Mountain Hardwear, Salomon, Osprey, Fox Racing, Quiksilver, Roxy, Billabong, and Hydroflask to name a few, it is no wonder that R.O.X. bears the title of being Southeast Asia’s biggest outdoor superstore.

Taking inspiration from the youthful spirit we equate with summer, the theme for this year’s festival was all about encouraging families and friends to take part in the limitless and playful possibilities of the outdoors. Likewise, the campaign sought to position R.O.X. as a one-stop shop for any type of summer adventure. With that said, this year’s Outdoor Festival offered a memorable experience that had everyone fired up to Get Outside and Play well beyond the event.

Apart from these family-friendly activities, other festival highlights included the R.O.X. Zero Gravity Bouldering Competition in partnership with The North Face, Outdoor Guide Sessions, Outdoor Movie, as well as an Outdoor Festival Sale. There were also on-site activations by outdoor brands, outdoor groups, advocacy groups, and tour operators who offered exclusive services and promotions throughout the event.

The event also exhibited the winning entries of the R.O.X. Play Outside photo contest, an online contest which encouraged outdoor lovers to share the many ways in which they play outside by submitting entries online. The Top 20 participants received their photo entries printed on canvas, while the Top 3 winners received the same plus gift certificates.

Dynamic and fun activities highlighted the weekend with various events from R.O.X.’s active brands and partners. TNF No Days Off, a high-intensity workout program through Anytime Fitness coaches, started with a 300m jog from Zone 1 and capped with a workout proper at Zone 3. Stance Art Run invited punks and poets to tour BGC’s massive murals while trying out Stance’s latest technology for the performance line, the Feel 360, with different physical challenges. Columbia’s The Last Man Standing was a game of physical and mental endurance. Each participant stood on a 3-foot wooden pillar and attempted to keep standing the longest time possible as additional physical challenges are introduced, while rewards are offered periodically in exchange of quitting the game and leaving their post. Strider Racing included the Strider Adventure Zone, Bike Clinic, Balance Bike Lessons, Family Races, Strider Adventure Zone and raffle draws. Meanwhile, customers who bought at least P2,000 worth of Fox items from May 18 to 20 had the chance to join Fox Racing, a mini MX competition. Lastly, Salomon Sprint Challenge had solo and duo runners trying Salomon shoes and vying for the fastest sprint to take home Salomon Run the City Apparel and other products.

This summer, R.O.X. reminds us of the good old days: when playing simply meant getting outside to rough it up under the sun. With the return of the R.O.X. Outdoor Festival, everyone got another shot at reliving the fun while allowing the young ones to experience what it truly means to Play Outside!
