Expect tempers or emotions to run high when bitter rivals Filinvest Land Inc. of the Gotianun Group and Megawide Construction Corp. of young billionaires led by Michael Cosequien and Edgar Saaverdra go up against each other again for the bidding of the Integrated Transport System–Southwest terminal project.
The ITS Southwest terminal is a small project worth just P2.5 billon compared with the P17-billion Mactan-Cebu International Airport won by Megawide, and which Filinvest Land bitterly contested.
Filinvest Land sources said the group would not be aggressive with its bid for the ITS-Southwest terminal project because it did not consider the infrastructure strategic to the group.
Legal cases or accusations, thus, are not expected to erupt in case the winning bidder is finally announced by the Transportation Department.
Filinvest and MWM Terminals, a joint venture between Megawide and WM Property Management Inc., were the only two companies that officially purchased the bid documents for the ITS Southwest Terminal project.
The ITS-Southwest terminal will be located on a 2.9-hectare property at the Coastal Road Terminal along the Manila-Cavite Expressway.
It aims to connect passengers coming from Cavite to other urban transport systems, such as the Light Rail Transit-Line 1 Extension to Cavite, buses, taxis and other public utility vehicles plying Metro Manila.
