Lady Warriors try to recover in Premier tilt

Pocari-Air Force seeks to recover from a heartbreaker of a five-set setback the last time out as it faces a skidding Tacloban side in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference elims at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan today.

The Lady Warriors gallantly fought back from two sets down to force a decider but lost steam in the end and yielded a 19-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-16, 14-16 decision to the surging Creamline Cool Smashers last week, dropping the former to fifth in the eight-team field at 3-2.

But the former Reinforced Conference champions are raring to bounce back, ready to pounce on the Fighting Warays’ three-game skid that included a five-set defeat to the Motolite-Ateneo Lady Eagles last Wednesday.

They clash at 4 p.m. with former league MVP Myla Pablo, Jeanette Panaga, Del Palomata, Iari Yongco and May Ann Pantino along with playmaker Wendy Semana hoping to cash in on their edge in power and experience against the likes of Jovielyn Prado, Mary Ann Esguerra, Heather Guino-o and new recruit Dimdim Pacres.

Meanwhile, Adamson-Akari and Iriga-Navy break their six-game slump as they tangle at 6 p.m. Coming off a week-long rest, the Lady Warriors brace for a grueling weekend as they head straight to Bulacan tomorrow (Sunday) to face the BanKo-Perlas Spikers in another explosive out-of-sortie in the season-ending conference of the league organized by Sports Vision.

Pocari and BanKo-Perlas square off at 4 p.m. while Creamline, which stopped BanKo-Perlas’ five game run with an emphatic three-set romp last Wednesday, tests co-leader Motolite-Ateneo in the 6 p.m. mainer at the Baliwag Star Arena.

Creamline, Motolite-Ateneo and BanKo-Perlas tote identical 5-1 marks with PetroGazz in solo fourth at 4-3 followed by Pocari with Tacloban still in the semis hunt despite a 2-4 slate with still a full round left in the elims of the tournament backed by Mikasa and Asics.
