PLAYING with a lot of confidence, De La Salle goes for the jugular against Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball Finals today at the Mall of Asia Arena.

While the Lady Tamaraws are trying to live another day, the Lady Spikers will enter the 4 p.m. match as favorites to claim their third consecutive title and 11th championship overall.

Meanwhile, National University seeks to end Ateneo’s three-year reign in the men’s division and reclaim the throne in the curtain raiser at 12 noon.

In between matches, the UAAP will honor Season 80 volleyball MVPs Jaja Santiago and Marck Espejo as well as the best individual performers at 3:15 p.m.

Using its vast championship experience, De La Salle swept FEU, 29-27, 25-21, 25-22 in last Saturday’s series opener, stretching its winning run to 10 games dating back from the eliminations.

Definitely, the Lady Tamaraws’ focus in their training in the past few days is on how to lessen their mistakes, partly because of their being too overeager.

Learning the lessons of Game 1, FEU coach George Pascua wants to forget the 34 errors it committed and remain upbeat of extending the best-of-three series to a winner-take-all.

For the Lady Spikers, coach Ramil de Jesus is wary that the Lady Tamaraws team that dragged them in five sets in two elimination round games might show up.

De La Salle needs to step up its attacking game, as the Taft-based side was outhit by FEU, 27-37.
