Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio has a date with destiny this Friday, 2 August, and he believes that a win will send a message across the division on how serious he is on reclaiming the ONE gold.

Eustaquio will face Japanese knockout artist Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu in a ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix alternate bout at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES, which takes place at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

Eustaquio is fired up as he is set to test his skills against the world’s best. But more than that, the 30-year-old Baguio City native would like to show that he is still on the top of his game.

Even after an impressive unanimous decision win at ONE: ENTER THE DRAGON over Kim Kyu Sung in Singapore, this time the Filipino star is looking at a more impressive win.

“I'm looking for a KO victory or a technical submission this coming Friday. That’s how bad I really want it,” Eustaquio said.

“Just like my brothers who will be fighting that night, there is a lot at stake for us. For me, I want to make a statement and show my eagerness to get my World Title back.”

With four more days to go before his return to the ONE Circle, Eustaquio shared that he is now all set and ready to perform at his best.

Despite some concerns from his fans with his conditioning and preparations after just being added to the stacked card a couple of weeks ago, the 30-year old promises that he is at 100 percent.

“Like I said, I was doing my best to catch up with everything. Now, I am confident in saying that I am more than 100 percent ready to showcase my skills and talent this Friday,” Eustaquio said.

Despite Eustaquio’s confidence, it will not change the fact that he will still be facing a dangerous foe who has scored nine of his 10 wins by knockout, and is dedicated on hunting for his first win in The Home of Martial Arts.

But for Eustaquio, regardless of Wakamatsu’s impressive knockout run, he remains unfazed and he would gladly test his might in the striking department against his Japanese counterpart.

“I’ve said it before, he is a good striker with good knockout power, but I’m confident with my own skills and I’m planning to test my striking against him.”

“I have a lot of things to show against Wakamatsu. New techniques and strategies. But one thing is for sure, fans will definitely be in a treat because they will witness a high-quality martial arts match this Friday.”
